The fishing hut near the Spa Pavilion was destroyed by fire over the weekend, along with its contents. The building, which was well known to local residents for its distinctive lean, is thought to have been set alight around 2am in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The hut, on the beach next to Undercliff Road West, contained various items of fishing equipment, as well as two outboard motors and three sailboards. Two fishing boats alongside the hut were also thought to have been stolen."
