Our Next Meeting

Our next meeting takes place this coming Tuesday 2nd September starting at 7.30pm in the Café Libra in Felixstowe Library.

The 500 word homework assignment was declared as "SAUSAGES" and whether you like them or not, this is a subject to get your teeth into! The open themed 1,500 word work will be delivered by Stephen and Tony. Providing all goes well it is Morag's turn to chair the meeting.

Rapidly approaching is the Jack Wilkinson Memorial Walk in aid of Cancer Research that is due to take place on Sunday 14th September. Details are available from Dick and you are able to select either a 5 or 9 mile sponsored walk.

Also one to watch out for, The Bill Budner Trophy. This is an anonymous competition for attending writers only. Details will be revealed at our meeting. Dick, seen in the photo receiving the trophy from Morag, will have to relinquish his grip on it!

There has been some painful times for Debbie in France. She has been bed bound for three weeks with a very painful back and has needed injections for the pain relief. We all send our best wishes to Debbie wishing her a full and speedy recovery. I understand that she will soon be in contact with Barry regarding Online Scribblers so hopefully the site will be re-activated in the coming weeks.

Whilst on the subject of the afflicted Dave thanks everyone for their wishes and the card. It seems the cataract removal went well but he has to wait another three weeks before seeing the optician. All being well Dave should be at Tuesdays meeting.

Hope you'll all be there too!

Until then

Keep Scribbling!

SUNPENNY PUBLISHING NEWSLETTER
Keeping you up to date with the happenings at Sunpenny Publishing, Rose&Crown Books, and Sunberry Books (IdioScribe).
-----------------------------

Sunpenny is surging forward with new authors, new competitions, and new imprints - all very exciting stuff! Travel with us!

RESULTS OF MAY (SPRING) 2008 WRITING COMPETITIONS:

The results are out! Congratulations to all our winners; we had a very high standard of entries and judging was not an easy task. In most cases, literally fractions of points separated them! Visit the web site www.sunpenny.com for lists of winners and the best of the stories. (If you would like the results posted to you for any of the divisions, please send us a properly stamped, addressed envelope and state which results you need.)

CURRENT WRITING COMPETITIONS:

Our next writing competitions are open for entries! 4 short story categories, and one for new novels:

"New Writers", "Young Writers", "Open", and "Christian" categories - www.sunpenny.com - Deadline: 31st October.

"New Novels" Competition: www.roseandcrownbooks.com - top three winners are guaranteed publication contracts, and every entry receives a Critique! Deadline 15th January 2009.

NEW AUTHORS & BOOKS:

We have been very busy bringing new authors into our fold! Visit our AUTHORS page at www.sunpenny.com to see who they are, and what books are in the pipeline.

FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR:

Although we will not be personally travelling to Frankfurt this year, three of our books will be represented on the Combined Books stand: "The Mountains Between" and "Just One More Sumemr" by Julie McGowan, and "Dance of Eagles" by JS Holloway. More will be in print in time for next year's book fairs!

NEW IMPRINTS:

Sunpenny Publishing is and remains a "traditional" publisher, in that authors are not required to pay towards the cost of producing their books. We have now created two new imprints:-

Rose & Crown Books (also "traditional") has been created to focus on Inspirational Romance, in all categories: straight romance, historical, suspense, mystery, adventure, travel, thriller, etc. Visit www.roseandcrownbooks.com for details.

Sunberry Books has been created to help authors towards publication, either with individual services (critique/analysis, advice, editing, proofreading, cover design, illustration, layout, final preparation, etc) - or in taking your manuscript from submission to printed publication delivered to your door (author-funded, or self-publishing). This section has been set up because we understand how difficult it is for authors to find reliable services such as these (we have been appalled at the quality of books some of the large, well known self-publishing services have been turning out!), or to get published by traditional methods. We undertake most genres, including poetry and children's works, non-fiction, and most fiction. Visit www.sunberrybooks.com for details.

That's all for now. Remember, we're always open to questions; contact us.
Kind regards,
Jo Holloway
